We are Toronto’s first fully facilitated HomeShare Program.
The Toronto HomeShare Pilot Project is a City of Toronto initiative arising out of the Toronto’s Seniors Strategy, with funding from the Ontario Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility. The National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (NICE) is implementing the pilot in partnership with the City and the Toronto’s Seniors Strategy Accountability Table, a group of seniors, caregivers, and other community partners dedicated to adequately and effectively supporting Toronto’s aging population.
Our goal is to match homeowners (55+) who have room to share with a post-secondary student (HomeSeeker) looking for affordable and safe accommodation. In exchange for reduced rent the HomeSeeker agrees to contribute up to 5 hours/week in the home. This could include light chores, snow maintenance or simply providing an additional presence in the home.
Choosing to share space with someone who is not family or a trusted friend can be a daunting process. This is why we offer a comprehensive and fully facilitated matching process. We will help you to identify whether or not HomeShare is the right choice for you, assist you with completing the matching forms and walk through the screening process with you.
